Click here to view the full letter. Next term, our school clubs will be starting on Monday 18th April and will run through till Friday 27th May 2016. Clubs with limited places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Due to its popularity, we will be making Football Club available to Lower School only for the first half term. Once the clubs change again after the half term break, Football Club will be Upper School only. We are also very lucky to have our Monday night Art club run by our new specialist art teacher, Miss Reid who currently runs the art classes for our Year 6’s.

This year our Year 3 students will be visiting the Verulamium Museum in St Albans, on Thursday 26th May 2016 to learn about Roman life. The Museum is built on the site of one of the largest Roman settlements in Britain which means that, as well as seeing a museum packed with Roman objects, they will also explore the remains of the Roman town.

Year 3 – have been writing their own play scripts for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and practising their fraction work in Maths. Year 4 – have been researching the British Monarchy and started drafting an information leaflet to teach others about it. In Maths, they have looked at the formal written method for addition and subtraction. Year 5 – have been doing explanation texts about a balloon rocket. They have also written their own weather report that even included Greek Gods and Goddesses! Year 6 – have been writing persuasive letters to Buckinghamshire County Council regarding fictitious topics like the merits of starting Key Stage 3 early. Click here for this week's bulletin. Today was Clean for the Queen day and our fantastic Eco Champions and brilliant School Councillors took time from their day to make a real effort to help spruce up our local area ready for the Queen’s 90th Birthday. Thank you to our wonderful Eco Schools Team and our School Council for their invaluable help today!
This week's Brainiac Awards have been handed out for amazing scripts, persevering all week through the learning pit and even completing reading contracts to the highest of standards! Great job guys!
We are delighted to inform you that our Year 4's have the opportunity to visit Pizza Express after the Easter break. This is to support and enhance their learning about food production, from growing the raw ingredients to producing, purchasing and eating final product.
Click to view the full letters: Primrose Class and Rose Class. This week we celebrated World Book Day 2016. We had a fantastic turn out of pupils in fantastic costumes. The day’s assembly was based on our favourite books and why they hold that special place in our hearts.
Unique to IVJS, we made sure every child received a free book of their choice rather than a token to help rekindle their love for the written word. Some of the Year 5’s even headed down to the Infants school to read with some of the Year 2’s. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the day so much fun! |
